I have five years experience in delivering psychology education and am currently a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Chichester. I have also recently developed a module in Applications of Psychology in Dance for the BSc/MSci Dance Science at Chichester.

In addition to my work in Higher Education, I have provided freelance dance psychology workshops in numerous dance institutions including Elmhurst School for Ballet (UK), The Brit School for Performing Arts (UK), Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Hong Kong), Dans och Cirkushogskolan (Sweden) and London Studio Centre (UK).

I am available to deliver freelance lectures and/or workshops covering a number of areas of dance psychology, which can be tailored to groups including young dancers, vocational dance students, professionals, parents of children in dance and teachers.

Topics I cover include (but are not limited to):

  • Psychological responses to dance injury

  • Psychological preparation for dance training

  • Perfectionism in dance

  • Managing stress in dance

  • Managing performance anxiety

  • Developing creativity in the dance studio

  • Fostering healthy motivation and passion for dance

  • Psychological skills training for dancers

  • Preparing for retirement from dance

I am able to design a one off or series of lectures/workshop programme which is tailored to your needs. Sessions can last between an hour to a full day course. If you require a topic not listed here, please contact me to discuss further.
